Navalprogetti offers in-depth feasibility studies and consulting services to assess the potential of hydrogen propulsion for specific vessels or fleet.
Tailor-made system Design and Engineering:
By listening to the specific requirements and needs of the ship owners and shipyards, the design will meet the Client expectations in terms of power, endurance, safety.
Energy optimization:
As the energy density of sustainable fuels is lower compared to oil based counterparts, this activity should preferably go hand in hand with the implementation of new technologies. Navalprogetti can assist the owner to define a strategy for the optimization of the energy consumption onboard thus reducing the energy demand.

Interface with system suppliers:
Navalprogetti can support the Client by acting as a technical interface in behalf of the owner or shipyard for the integration of the specific systems onboard.
Newbuild/Retrofit studies:
Navalprogetti offers services for newbuild projects and retrofit. The “traditional” expertise in the Naval Architecture disciplines combined with the cutting-edge knowledge in the liquid hydrogen use for maritime applications is applied in this kind of activities.
Newbuild/Retrofit vessel specification:
Based on the design developed, Navalprogetti will provide the Client with the technical specification of the hydrogen system to be installed in its new vessel or the retrofit specification to allow the installation within an existing platform.

Evaluation, management & support to the system suppliers:
Navalprogetti can assist the Client by providing support to their project management team in the evaluation of suppliers’ technical offers. Once the suppliers are defined, Navalprogetti can support them and act as interface between them and the ship environment, translating the requirements in technical demands from the platform.
Regulatory Compliance:
In both cases (newbuild or retrofit) the design coordinated by Navalprogetti will meet the stringent requirements of classification societies for the approval of hydrogen systems. Navalprogetti extensive experience in both prescription based and risk based design guarantees a first class design compliance.
Risk assessment:
Navalprogetti can manage the risk assessment process (HAZID, quantitative risk analysis, single- multi- phase CFD simulations) in compliance with IMO alternative design for hydrogen fuelled vessels.
