What is sHYpS?
sHYpS – Sustainable HYdrogen Powered Shipping – is a european project co-funded by Horizon Europe program aimed at accelerating the transition to clean energy in the maritime sector by introducing liquid hydrogen (LH₂) as a scalable, sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.
Bringing together leading experts in ship design, cryogenic engineering, and classification, sHYpS is developing a replicable platform for hydrogen propulsion in commercial shipping. As global maritime regulations tighten and the industry faces mounting pressure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, sHYpS offers a realistic, zero-emission solution—designed to meet both present and future environmental goals.
